October 9 - 13

 Weekly Happenings

Thank you to 10/11 advisory teachers.  It appeared that students were engaged in the team building activities this week!  Students did a much better job creating DCE and trees!

Thank you for your help in promoting senior celebrations throughout this school year! Please encourage seniors to come to Student Services as they solidify their post-high school plans.

The Greenheck Turner Community Center is coming along with amazing progress!

Need to Know

Oct. 26 Professional Learning Day - Official registration for the October 26 Professional Development Day will be sent via email at 3:45 pm on Monday, October. 9. Please watch for an email from Gina Lehman. A couple of key things to keep in mind:
  • This is a joint PD with D.C. Everest, Wausau School District and our community.
  • Session slots have limited space–registration for sessions will be on a first come, first served basis. We have a total of 53 presenters between the two locations.
  • We encourage you to sign up ASAP to ensure you get the sessions you are interested in.
  • We are using Wausau’s registration software – be sure to sign in/up and create an account with Google. This will ensure you are accounted for on Oct. 26.
  • Each participant will need to sign up for four (4) sessions. If you are PK-5 you will select sessions that are highlighted green. If you are 6-12 you will select sessions that are highlighted purple.
Here is the agenda for the day:

Frontline Absences Reminder -
We’ve noticed a trend with absences being entered into Frontline late (for reasons other than illness/emergency).
  • As a reminder, absences should be entered into Frontline if a substitute is needed at least 72 hours prior to the day being requested off (except in the case of illness or emergency).
  • If the absence is for 3-5 days, it should be entered at least two weeks prior to the days being requested off.
    • This increases the chances that a substitute will accept the job.

Parent-Teacher Conferences - Our fall conferences are on Thursday, November 9th and Monday, November 13th from 3-6:30 p.m. Parents will have the option to have an in-person, WebEx, or telephone conference when signing up. Individualized parent emails will go out October 26th with instructions and a link to sign up during an 8-minute spot with a 2-minute passing time. All teachers are required to be in the building for conferences unless on the shared teacher list or have been approved by Mike. If you need to talk to Mike, please do so by October 23rd so that if your schedule can be blocked or changed accordingly by Dawn before the 26th.

Dr. Nye's Listening Sessions - Anyone can attend at any of the schools.

Vector Training Courses - A quick reminder that our vector training courses are due by the end of October. The website can be accessed at https://dce-wi.safeschools.com/. Your district username and password are the same for this site as all other district applications. If you have a lesson

Sunshine Club would like to continue to offer our support during difficult times and celebrate happy life events. In order to do that, we are collecting money from staff who wish to donate. Please review the flyer to see how Sunshine supports DCE SRH and where to drop off the donation. SH Sunshine Flyer 2023-24

Club/Activity Monthly Meeting Calendar - Below is a link to a google calendar sheet for monthly club/activity meetings during ELT. Please complete by the end of September. We are asking that you choose a consecutive day of the month (1st Tuesday, 2nd Thursday, Etc.). Looking to only have one or two per day. If you do not meet monthly, put the meetings you know of on and then come back later and enter more if needed.  Link to Monthly Club/Activity Calendar

PRESIDENT'S OWN MARINE BAND - The President's Own Marine Band will be performing at the Sr. High on Tuesday, October 17th at 7:30pm. We would like to invite you to the FREE concert, but you do need to have a FREE ticket (scan QR code).

Pride Tickets:  All staff are asked to send three Pride tickets to students per week. Use the rotation calendar to help provide an equal rotation. Teachers are welcome to send more than directed on the calendar. This action step should increase the amount of positive feedback parents and students hear about all the good they are doing.
