D.C. Everest Senior High School Staff Update

Weekly Happenings
Thursday before break, Jaylee Thomas, Braden Zoromski, Matt Burns, Owen Soehl, Ana Aphayrath, and Erin Jacobson went to the State Capitol to advocate for full funding for school mental health with staff members of our State Representatives.  While there they also met with students and staff from many neighboring schools and discussed what those students were doing in their schools in supporting student mental health.  These students were well spoken and represented Everest in an amazing light while also participating in a unique and powerful experience!

D.C. Everest Senior High School Staff Update

Weekly Happenings
Huge thank you to the following people who helped chaperone the Sadies Hawkins Dance on Saturday: Jenna Peplinski, Rachel Lintereur, Karry Salber, Glenn Olstad, Anne Marie Jagodzinski, Todd McDonald, Bill Franklin, Josh English and Mark Graefe for his support in set up and take down! Thank you for giving us your Saturday night for our students!

ACT - Big shout out to everyone who helped at all with ACT testing last week!  A special shout out to Dawn, Todd, Brady and the high school tech team, and all proctors!  Thank you for making the day go well!

Congratulations to our Jazz Band that won "Outstanding Band this weekend in Shawano!"  Amazing musicians we have walking our halls!

IMAGINE was a great event last week! We had a number of clubs and activities represented - Thank you to all who gave up one of their nights to represent our district opportunities for kids!

Over 400 D.C. Everest Sophomores participated in the annual CareerFest hosted by Wausau West on March 2nd. A big thank you to our Chaperones and Sophomore Advisory Teachers for helping students prepare and engage in this College and Career exploration event. The business representatives were very impressed by our students' interest, engagement, and behavior during this event.

Announcements/Week Ahead
Bloomsights 3rd quarter data - Thank you to all our staff who helped our students complete Bloomsights questionnaire for 3rd quarter. Approximately 28 students (of those that took it) indicated they felt like they didn't belong at school both times the questionnaire was taken this year.

We are asking one teacher to send home a positive post card to positively reinforce something the student consistently does well and strengthen the relationship. Ideally, the card could be sent in the mail this Friday, so the student receives it while on spring break. Student Services pre-addressed 28 post cards and will put them in teacher mailboxes Monday afternoon. Please check your mailbox to see if you have one of these students and send the postcard home. There will also be a stack of post-cards in the teacher workroom to send to any student before break if you don't have a pre-addressed postcard in your mailbox. Have fun spreading a little good news to our students and families during break!

PD Information - The DCE Curriculum Office invites you to check out the multiple new asynchronous and blended course offerings now available on Frontline. Many of these offerings have deadlines for completion to ensure those of you needing hours are able to apply those credits to move lanes on the salary schedule. Please take advantage of these many new courses meant to appeal to a variety of positions in the district, including many new courses specific to content areas, as well as a student-panel led book study for any interested elementary staff! A friendly reminder that ALL PD must be submitted and approved prior to May 15.

Staffing updates - All department chairs and coordinators have had initial meetings with Dallas and Mike as we begin talking about positions for next year.  Please understand that the conversation regarding FTE, job postings, and overall building staffing decisions do not happen in a vacuum.  All decisions to hire, or not, impact the immediate teaching load of the department, the overall building FTE, and impacts district level FTE.  With that being said - we are attempting to be as transparent as possible regarding course requests and possibilities to fill openings. If you have any questions - please let us know.

ACT Makeup Testing - Tuesday should be our last ACT makeup testing date in the conference room 210.  Please be considerate
