Weekly Happenings
Congratulations to Sara Mlodik - DCE's first ever State Cross Country Champion! It was a beautiful day and Sara ran a fantastic race!  Congratulations to Allisha Blanchette and Tami Mlodik as coaches and for Tami as mom!

FBLA students collecting supplies for the school in Florida destroyed by Hurricane Ian.

Thanks for joining us for breakfast on Thursday morning!

Big shout out to Erin Jacobson and Brooke Davis for their efforts in leading our training last Thursday!  Thank you for all of your efforts!

Announcements/Week Ahead

Added Faculty Meeting - We have added a 15 minute faculty meeting for this Tuesday, November 1. The topic will be the upcoming You Matter days.  Please plan accordingly to be in person from 2:50-3:05.

Picture Retake Day - There will be a retake day on Tuesday, November 1st from 7-9a.m. for any student or staff member to get their picture taken for the yearbook. There will be a charge of $7 for students if nothing is really wrong with the pictures. If eyes are closed or something like that, it will be free of charge. Students must bring old pictures back that day to the photographer.

Teacher Observations - Last week I sent an email asking for teacher volunteers to open their classroom for observations from colleagues. THANK YOU to the teachers who said they would be comfortable having people come and observe them.  Here is the link to classrooms that welcome you in!  The goal is that every teacher conducts 1 or 2-20 minute observations outside of their own department.  We will reflect on your observations during our November faculty meeting.  Get out and see the amazing things your colleagues are doing!

Grading Day - Monday, November 7th - Clarification on work expectations during our upcoming Grading Day.
  • Teachers should be able to complete their work tasks and be reachable if questions or concerns arise regarding grades/other quarter-ending concerns
  • If there is time during the day in which staff would be unable to take a call or complete required work, PTO should be taken. For example, if you are truly on vacation, a PTO day should be used.
Grading reminder - Grading scheme below. As a reminder, all grades should be entered out of 10 with one of the numbers below that represent the desired letter grade.

Bloomsights - All students need to complete Bloomsights by the end of the day November 4th. If they need help determining which one of their ELT students need to take or finish it have them see Mrs. Rennie.

41 of our students attended the "Build my Future" event put on by NTC looking at Agriculture, Transportation, and Construction fields.

NTC Diesel Program brought in a Diesel truck to talk with students about careers in the Transportation industry!

Thought I should share the Soccer team celebrating the Conference Championship this past week by dumping their gatorade bucket on Coach Roloff!

Announcements/Week Ahead

Faculty Meeting - Our next faculty meeting is Wednesday, October 19th, in the IMC 2:50-4pm.

Bloomsights - Bloomsights is experiencing issues processing the large quantity of data from assessments across the country. They are working to increase access to help allow students to have a positive experience while using the program. Sophomore ELTs are encouraged to keep plugging away in an attempt to get it done.  We will communicate this week about Wednesday expectations.

10 year YRBS Data - Interesting data shared this week from DPI on 10-year trends within the YRBS.  https://dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/sspw/pdf/6-2021WIHTrendReport10Years.pdf

Phone update - The phone upgrade will be taking place from October 26th-28th. Staff will not be able to place or receive phone calls after 4:00pm on October 26th.  When staff arrive back to school on October 31st they will need to re-setup their voicemail (instructions will be on the phone to do this).

SH Newsletter - If you have something you would like included in the next newsletter please contact Dawn with your submission this week.
