February 12 - 16

 Weekly Happenings

Last week I was able to connect with a number of high school principals from across the state. One of the topics we discussed for an extended period of time related to how high school programming within CTE departments was preparing students for challenging, rewarding, and needed careers within our communities. Our CTE staff is absolutely tremendous in the opportunities, programming, and support they give to our students.  Our students are fortunate to have strong community support and CTE teachers who do a great job utilizing our facilities to give our students real experiences that translate into great careers.  CTE teachers - thank you for all that you do! Happy CTE month!

CONGRATULATIONS to all four DECA School Based Enterprises! They met the requirements set by National DECA and they all were awarded GOLD! Congratulations Jodi and Alex!

The four Enterprises winning were:

Tree Top Shop, Gold, Everest Expressions, Everest Outfitters, and the Spirit Box/BUBBLR Vending,

DCE DECA has four of the 728 SBE entries that turned gold this year. SBEs earning Gold Level Certification or Gold Re-Certification are eligible to bring members to participate in the SBE Academy and competition at the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California this spring.

Leslei invited members of Student Council, YLA, and Chinese club to join forces to discuss potential cultural appreciation activities for the rest of the year. Looking forward to these student's ideas! If you'd like to help - reach out to Leslei!

2024-25 Student Registration Process
Upcoming Important Information

Course Registration Department Q&A Session Monday,  Feb. 12th - Department representatives will be in the gym during ELT on Monday, February 12th for students who need more information or have questions about a course before setting their schedule for the 2024-25 school year.

The 24-25 Course Registration process begins on Tuesday, Feb. 13th during ELT, in the auditorium. Below is important information to share with all 10th and 11th grade ELT's prior to Tuesday, Feb. 13th. All staff should have received a hard copy of the Academic and Career Handbook in their mailbox this past week. All other materials are on the website. Here is also a link to the DCE SH website with all of the registration information, materials, and the presentation the counselors will be going over in the auditorium. We will need to enlist the help of ELT teachers a few other times during the scheduling process. Stay tuned for more directions. The Infinite Campus registration portal closes on February 23rd at 3:00 pm. No course selection changes can be made after that date.

Tuesday,  Feb. 13th, during ELT:  11th graders report directly to the theater for the registration presentation with a charged iPad/phone. There will be no assigned seating. Counselors will also assign students to the presentation through the ELT system. It is a mandatory meeting. We ask that if you do not have any students left in your ELT that you come to the auditorium to help supervise. Students will receive registration materials in the theater. We will share extra registration packets with ELT teachers to give to students if they are absent. Students who are absent should review registration materials posted online or make an appt with their counselor.

Wednesday, Feb. 14th, during Advisory:  10th graders report directly to the theater for the registration presentation with a charged iPad/phone. It is a mandatory meeting. All 10th grade Advisory teachers should report to the theater to help supervise. There will be no assigned seating. Students will receive registration materials in the theater. Extra registration packets will be given to Advisory teachers for students who are absent. Students who are absent should review registration materials posted online or make an appt with their counselor.

Thursday, Feb. 15th, periods 2, 3, 4 and 1010th graders will be called down to the theater by alpha to work on course requests and meet 1-1 for a brief check in with their counselor. Below is the schedule for student last name with their corresponding periods.  Please plan accordingly for this day. You will have a portion of your 10th graders gone throughout the day.
