Student of the Month - Congratulations to the December Students of the month: Isaak Beitzel, Taylor Freidel, Kaden Goff, Ava Graff, Catherine Harmon, Rob Jensen, Cassandra Kay, Xoey Moore, Dylan Neuendank, Jasmine Penn, Drew Woodward, Lazia Yang, Yureeyiana Yang, and Riley Zieske.



Congratulations to our D.C. Everest Dance Team!  They had two great performances and finished 5th in Kick and 3rd and Pom! Great showing by our student-athletes!


Great story from our Alternative High School where our students made 120 Valentine's Day cards for our veterans at King.  Great work by these students and the Alternative High School Staff!


Eight Youth Apprentices led the YA Panel this past Wednesday in the IMC during Advisory as they spoke about their work experiences and answered questions from interested students. Over 35 students expressed interest in learning more about how to qualify for the program and find placements for this summer and next school year.

Three brave DECA members plunged this last week in the annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics and raised $654 for the cause.

Mock Trial Competed at the Marathon County Courthouse this weekend!  Our experienced 3-0 team fell in the last round. Great season for our Mock Trialers!


Members of Key Club helped prepare and plate over 120 meals at the Jubilee House this past Thursday! A huge thank you to several staff members who contributed a sidedish or homemade dessert to share at the event!! Coordinators of the event were so complimentary of both the home cooked meal and the wonderful professionalism of our volunteers!



HAPPY NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR WEEK! - We have an amazing group of professionals who make up our school counseling team.  Thank you to Brooke, Jodi, Jenny, Val, and Melissa for all of their work on behalf of our students!

Upcoming Important Information

Course Registration Department Q&A Session Monday,  Feb. 12th - Department representatives will be in the gym during ELT on Monday, February 12th for students who need more information or have questions about a course before setting their schedule for the 2024-25 school year.

The 24-25 Course Registration process begins on Tuesday, Feb. 13th during ELT, in the auditorium. Below is important information to share with all 10th and 11th grade ELT's prior to Tuesday, Feb. 13th. All staff should have received a hard copy of the Academic and Career Handbook in their mailbox this past week. All other materials are on the website. Here is also a link to the DCE SH website with all of the registration information, materials, and the presentation the counselors will be going over in the auditorium. We will need to enlist the help of ELT teachers a few other times during the scheduling process. Stay tuned for more directions. The Infinite Campus registration portal closes on February 23rd at 3:00 pm. No course selection changes can be made after that date.

Counselors will also assign students to the presentation through the ELT system. It is a mandatory meeting. We ask that if you do not have any students left in your ELT that you come to the auditorium to help supervise. Students will receive registration materials in the theater. We will share extra registration packets with ELT teachers to give to students if they are absent. Students who are absent should review registration materials posted online or make an appt with their counselor.

Thursday, Feb. 15th, periods 2, 3, 4 and 1010th graders will be called down to the theater by alpha to work on course requests and meet 1-1 for a brief check in with their counselor. Below is the schedule for student last name with their corresponding periods.  Please plan accordingly for this day. You will have a portion of your 10th graders gone throughout the day.

Update from Sunshine - A sympathy card was sent to Cheri Combs for the passing of her father-in-law. We are sending her our condolences during this difficult time.

You Matter Day Altered Schedule Wednesday, 2/7 - There will be an altered schedule with an hour Advisory between periods 2 and 3.  An additional Green Bandanna Training will be taking place durin this time.  There will be student activities to be completed.  Information on the activities to be completed in Advisory will be emailed to you on Monday.  Here is the altered schedule link which will take you into the shared SH folder where you can find the schedule. 

Group photos for clubs and organizations will be taken throughout the day on Wednesday, February 7th for the yearbook. Below is an updated link to the schedule for group photos. Sarah Aleckson did her best to honor requests for photo times. If you have any other groups to add or drop, or notice any conflicts/issues with this schedule, please let her know as soon as possible. Additionally, if you still need to send in a roster please do so. You can also let students know when groups will be photographed (there will be announcements calling groups down throughout the day as well).

Due to the altered schedule on Wednesday, 2/7, the new times and changes are highlighted in yellow in the link listed below:  

International Rotary Students Forum 2/9, 12:40-2 p.m. - International students will be in the auditorium to talk about their experience living in the USA and about life in their home country. We will have 12 students who are currently studying in Wisconsin and Minnesota from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Taiwan and Thailand.

All World Language students are invited to attend with permission from their 9th and 10th hour teacher. The presentation will begin at 12:40 pm.

Parent-Teacher Conferences 2/15 & 2/19 - One of the primary parents per student received a letter via email or mail last Friday/Saturday/Monday with a specific per family link. Along with that were instructions to schedule an 8-minute conference (via in-person or WebEx) with their student's teacher(s) either Thursday, February 15th or Monday, February 19th sometime between 3-6pm.  Parent signup began at 8am last Thursday, February 2nd and will continue until 24 hours prior to the conference date. If parents have any problems, please refer them to Dawn Seehafer. Pride Tickets:  All staff are asked to send three Pride tickets to students per week. Use the rotation calendar to help provide an equal rotation. Teachers are welcome to send more than directed on the calendar. This action step should increase the amount of positive feedback parents and students hear about all the good they are doing.

Field Trips

Complete the following at least 2-weeks prior of your field trip:
  • Consider academic and curricular importance when scheduling
  • Receive Principal's approval
  • Make arrangements for payment/cost of trip
  • Complete request form, attach student list (alpha with student's name, no nicknames, & ID number)
  • If taking busses, student lists by bus with staff member name (health supplies for specific students will be packaged per bus).
  • Verify each student field trip permission form is on file in IC
  • Complete Online Bus Request
  • Schedule appointment with Health Aide to review details about the trip
  • Notice of trip and itinerary sent home
  • Notify special education department/case manager of students attending the trip
