 Weekly Happenings

Academic Awards' Night Monday, September 11 - What a great evening celebrating our students! Congratulations to all of our awesome students!

Congratulations to Logan Cherek and Jayden Zoesch under the direction of Chad Pernsteiner for their 1st Place Finish at the Bricklayer 500 last Wednesday!  Fantastic event every year to teach high school students about opportunities in the trades!

Congratulations to our football coaching staff, specifically Coach Strehlow for being chosen as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week last week. As a result of the recognition, Coach Strehlow receives $2,000 for the program and will be honored in many publications to come.  Great work to the whole coaching staff for the recognition!

Need to Know

Sunshine Club: We are so excited to welcome two new little Evergreens to the school. Congrats to Kaitlyn Roskopf on the birth of her son Parker and Heidi Clark on the birth of her son as well! Sunshine sent a card and Target Gift cards to both families to celebrate this special event in their lives.

**Sunshine would like to continue to offer our support during difficult times and celebrate happy life events. In order to do that, we are collecting money from staff who wish to donate. Please review the flyer to see how Sunshine supports DCE SRH and where to drop off the donation. SH Sunshine Flyer 2023-24

Faculty Meeting - Our next faculty meeting is Wednesday, September 20th, in 310/329 from 2:50-4pm.  We will begin by running our faculty circles in the same room you met in to begin the year. We will then head to 310/329 for our faculty meeting which will focus primarily on the ESS process.

Restorative Practices Training - If you weren’t able to attend one of the summer sessions on Restorative Practices but wanted to go, please sign-up in frontline for our Oct. 2 and 3 training. October 2 is a teacher work day, and it would be okay for you to only attend for that one day. Sophomore ELT teachers - this would be a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and training related to running student circles.

Funding Opportunities through the DCE Education Foundation - The D.C. Everest Education Foundation provides financial support for innovative educational programs and creative projects that inspire both teachers and students to achieve excellence. We would like to remind staff that the D.C. Everest Education Foundation now provides two opportunities to fund projects and resources for DCE staff.

DCE Foundation Grants - The Foundation continues to accept grant applications and has transitioned to larger innovative projects that impact a wide swath of students. Many of you have submitted ideas for your grade or classroom that the Foundation feels could be successfully adopted across a broader spectrum and they would like to make that happen. The Foundation has always been impressed by the caliber of grant applications and your ability to think outside of the box. Now, they are encouraging you to do so — and to “think big.” Are there projects you would like to see launched across an elementary or secondary grade level, throughout your school or throughout the elementary or secondary schools? If so, the Foundation welcomes you to submit a grant application.

DCE DonorsChoose Portal - The Foundation realizes many of you have projects or classroom needs that may not fit the guidelines of the grant application process. Therefore, the Foundation has established the DCE DonorsChoose portal to help staff secure funds to provide students with new opportunities. The Foundation has committed to providing $5,000 of seed money in the DonorsChoose account to fund projects (up to 25% with a $400 cap) that are near expiration and have not received 100% of funding. The Foundation will fund as many projects as possible until all funds set aside are awarded.

If you would like to submit a DonorsChoose request, please review the DonorsChoose Process document-linked HERE.

Additional Funding Opportunities - Marathon County Retired Educators Grant. Here is the information if you’d like to check it out.

ELT Containment - It was recently discovered that the ELT containments are not showing up on the “ELT Report.” Bailey will be able to fix this for us quickly. Until then, please follow these three steps stated in the link below. Thank you Tom Davies for your help with figuring this out.

Club/Activity Monthly Meeting Calendar - Below is a link to a google calendar sheet for monthly club/activity meetings during ELT. Please complete by the end of September. We are asking that you choose a consecutive day of the month (1st Tuesday, 2nd Thursday, Etc.). Looking to only have one or two per day. If you do not meet monthly, put the meetings you know of on and then come back later and enter more if needed.  Link to Monthly Club/Activity Calendar

Emergency Red/Green Door Cards - All classroom and office doors leading to the hallways are required to have a red/green card in a clear holder posted on the inside of the window directly to the side of the door with the red facing out to the hallway.  If you have two hallway doors, they both should have one posted on them.  If you do not have one or if your colors are faded, please complete the following survey and one will be given to you.  Emergency Red/Green Door Card Needed

Clubs/Activity Advisors - All club/activity advisors please check out the link below to make sure the correct information (club name, description, advisor(s), email address) are correct for this school year.  If there are any changes, please let Dawn Seehafer know.  This information is located on the senior high webpage.  Also, please send a student roster with ID numbers to Heidi.  The list can always be updated if needed.  SH Webpage of Clubs/Activities

Pride Tickets:  All staff are asked to send three Pride tickets to students per week. Use the rotation calendar to help provide an equal rotation. Teachers are welcome to send more than directed on the calendar. This action step should increase the amount of positive feedback parents and students hear about all the good they are doing.
