Key Club volunteers working at the Jubilee House Thursday evening served just under 50 people a warm meal. We had many staff and students prepare all the food for the event. It was a great night!
Mock trial had their regional competition over the weekend. Congratulate the following students if you see them!  Congratulations to Ciera Levake for her work!

Announcements/Week Ahead

Parent-Teacher Contact Time - A reminder that there are an additional 3 hours built-in during this Parent Teacher conference time for teachers to call, email, and connect with parents. We choose not to schedule these three hours to increase flexibility for both faculty and parents.

Parent-Teacher Conferences - Our spring conferences are on Thursday, February 17th from 3-6:30 p.m. with a built-in 20-minute break.  All teachers are expected to be here for conferences.  There are a few shared teachers, coaches, etc. with exceptions.  If you haven't already spoken to Mike/Dawn about not being here, please do so ASAP.  Parents will receive an individualized email or paper copy with instructions and links to sign up for either an in-person, WebEx, or telephone conference starting Wednesday, February 9th at 7 a.m.

Parent-Teacher Conference Teacher Appointment Schedules - Thursday, November 17th is parent-teacher conferences from 3-6:30 p.m. with a built-in 20-minute break.  A few reminders regarding conferences:

  1. Here is the link to view your schedules and info lookup directions.  Teachers cannot change their schedule, contact Dawn if needed.
  2. Please view your online schedule frequently after Wednesday, 2/9, 7 a.m.. If a parent calls, Dawn will add/delete/change their schedule if possible.
  3. Check your "Parents/Guardians Needing a Different Time" listing and contact them when you have time.
  4. Parents can add/delete/change their conference(s) up to 24 hours prior to conferences.
  5. Dawn will be in the main office during conferences at ext. 4021, if needed.
  6. There will be treats in the teacher's lounge. Please come down during your break and enjoy.

Turnitin.com - We have a new tool that will appear on your Canvas accounts.  This tool will check student work for plagiarism when activated by teachers.  We will provide instruction on how this tool can be used at our next faculty meeting on Wednesday.

Faculty meeting - We will talk briefly about Turnitin.com and then a number of students will be joining us to discuss the upcoming Mental Wellness Day.  If you are unable to make it please check with Mike on Monday or Tuesday.

Sunshine Update - The Sunshine Closet has been restocked with chocolates, pretzels, popcorn and gum! Don't forget about the coffee coupon from our very own Forest Cafe too! The coffee coupon can be picked up from Melissa Barwick. We also added some blank post it notes if you prefer to write a positive message to co-workers instead of using the affirmation cards.

The Sunshine Closet's primary purpose is to make sweet treats easily available for you to pass along to co-workers if they need a pick me up, express gratitude or celebrate something fun with them. We shared those Sunshine expressions during 1st semester using roughly $200.00 of your donations for treats. Everyone and anyone can use the Sunshine Closet treats to support each other.

If you know of any major life events among co-workers in your department, please pass them along to Jodi Devine or Dawn Seehafer and a message will be shared in the blog.

Mid-quarter progress grades - An email with instructions was sent on Friday on how teachers need to enter progress reports for mid quarter. We will use this information as a check on student progress and also reassess which students maintain their "privileges" related to ELT, Study Hall, and Lunch.
