Professional Development Day
Our next PD Day is scheduled for 2/18. Here is the plan for the day:- The plan for this day has evolved (notably) based on staff feedback. Once scheduled as a full-day event, staff now are expected to participate in a minimum of one session, as little as 60-90 minutes.
- The focus continues to be self-care, resilience and burnout prevention. While it would be fair to say that giving “time” helps manage stress, it also never gets at some of the root challenges. To that end, this day is focused on encouraging staff to take an active role managing the challenges we face today.
- There is a great deal of flexibility within this schedule. If groups meet for some portion of the day on things not included on the formal schedule, this is A-OK/encouraged, but at those teams’ discretion.
- The options may prove beneficial/valuable for all categories of employee. If support staff members not scheduled to work were interested in attending, they would be welcome to, but it would not be an added, paid work day.
Announcements/Week Ahead
Parent-Teacher Contact Time - A reminder that there are an additional 3 hours built-in during this Parent Teacher conference time for teachers to call, email, and connect with parents. We choose not to schedule these three hours to increase flexibility for both faculty and parents.
Parent-Teacher Conferences - Our spring conferences are on Thursday, February 17th from 3-6:30 p.m. with a built-in 20-minute break. All teachers are expected to be here for conferences. There are a few shared teachers, coaches, etc. with exceptions. If you haven't already spoken to Mike/Dawn about not being here, please do so ASAP. Parents will receive an individualized email or paper copy with instructions and links to sign up for either an in-person, WebEx, or telephone conference starting Wednesday, February 9th at 7 a.m.
- Here is the link to view your schedules and info lookup directions. Teachers cannot change their schedule, contact Dawn if needed.
- Please view your online schedule frequently after Wednesday, 2/9, 7 a.m.. If a parent calls, Dawn will add/delete/change their schedule if possible.
- Check your "Parents/Guardians Needing a Different Time" listing and contact them when you have time.
- Parents can add/delete/change their conference(s) up to 24 hours prior to conferences.
- Dawn will be in the main office during conferences at ext. 4021, if needed.
