Staff Appreciation Week!

Student council has planned fun activities for ALL staff throughout the week: a raffle, cookout lunch, dress up days, donuts and coffee along with a fun activity to be done with your advisory.

The raffle drawing (3 great baskets) will be announced Thursday afternoon. You will receive 4 raffle tickets in your mailbox-make sure you write your name on all 4 (including the ones that say “keep this coupon”) before entering! You can receive bonus tickets by participating in dress up days - honor system style, pick them up in the staff lounge. You put your tickets in whichever basket(s) you hope to win.

Dress Up Days:
  • Monday - PJ Day sit back and relax because you have put in the work.
  • Tuesday - College Apparel, wear your alma mater and give appreciation to your past teachers and professors.
  • Wednesday - ZOOM DAY throw back to Covid when you could wear sweatpants and just throw on a nice top. We appreciate the hard work you put in during difficult times!!
  • Thursday - Dress like your students (basically a second pj day for most of you, you’re welcome)
Extra activities:
  • Monday - Donuts and in your mailbox a coffee slip
  • Tuesday - Cookout lunch
  • Wednesday - a google form quiz about secret fun facts about teachers and staff will be sent out; the advisory with the best score will receive a special prize!
  • Thursday - Raffle
*If you don't have a mailbox, you can grab your 4 tickets and coffee slip in the front office.

Thank you for all you do for all of the students of DCE! You rock!

Need to Know

Fun Day - Student Council is planning a fun day the last week of school. It will either be May 21st or May 22nd. Teachers will be asked to provide some fun activities throughout the day. Signup and final decision on the day will be coming this week.

Students failing - If you have a senior in danger of failing a course, whether they "need the credit or not" it is expected that parental phone calls have been made and students are regularly being assigned to ELT.  This is same expectation for sophomores and juniors as well.  Document calls and contacts within Grade Guardian.  If you have any questions with this please let me know.

AP In-House Testing & Bells - Due to in-house AP testing for students with accommodations, There will be no bells or announcements during the following day and times:

P
ride Tickets - With 4 weeks to go I am sending out the updated pride ticket count. Take a look at the students who haven’t received any yet. So far this year you have submitted 2869 tickets which is 547 more than this time last year.  Thank you for continuing to recognize all the good things our students do!

The DCE Inaugural District-Wide Culture Fair:  May 13 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Rothschild Pavilion. The event is free to the public. Stop in to visit the many booths that showcase the cultures that make up our community. There will be speakers, performers, free food, activities for students, and even a photo booth!

Car Show May 8th- Our students in Autos classes will be running their end of year car show on May 8th. Parking near the tech.ed. area will be limited that day.  Teachers are asked to not park near the tech ed doors. Teachers are welcome to bring their classes out beginning at noon.  Students in the car show will be excused.

Habit House Open House will be on Monday, May 20th, from 3-7 p.m. Come on out and see the great job our students have done building a home for someone in need.

House moving - The Habitat House will be moved on the morning of May 22nd. We'll need the far south lane blocked off as we have in the past to allow room for the trailers and cranes. All should be cleared out by noon.

Senior Teachers - Parade of Graduates - If you teach Seniors, please plan on being apart of the Parade of Graduates on the 29th from 9-11 and Graduation practice from 12:15 - 2.  Retirees please plan to be apart of the parade of graduates as we will ask you to lead the students through the hallways!  More information to come!

Pride Tickets:  All staff are asked to send three Pride tickets to students per week. Use the rotation calendar to help provide an equal rotation. Teachers are welcome to send more than directed on the calendar. This action step should increase the amount of positive feedback parents and students hear about all the good they are doing.
