April 8 - 12

 Weekly Happenings

Huge thank you to Dave Wanta, Lah Thao, Brian Engebretsen, and Mike Mathies for allowing Muay Thai - a student run group to perform an exhibition of their skills!

Ethan Leader with his best Bruce Buffer impersonation!

Tremendous talent on display last week by our guest Adin Boyer!  I appreciated his message and was very proud of our students as usual.  Big thanks to Jason McFarlane for making it happen!

On Tuesday, Rhonda cashed in her gingerbread man for an early leave meaning I was fortunate to spend my afternoon with our kitchen staff.  Under the guidance of Cynthia I served, stocked, grabbed trays, scrubbed pans (new appreciation for hamburger mac and cheese day) and washed, dried, and put away dishes.  What blew me away in the experience was the AMAZING TEAM approach the whole staff embraces.  Hard working, positive and fun is the way they approach their work.  Thank you to the entire kitchen team for welcoming me in!!!

Looking for a night out? Check out the Spring Musical!

Impact: Governor Evers signs into law Bill 232

Press Release

There will also be a PD webinar opportunity tied to this bill presented by DCE teacher Kevin Podeweltz. Here is the information from him:

Hello DCE Teachers,

With the addition of Asian Americans and Hmong Americans to Act 31, the law that requires our teaching on human relations for Native Americans, Blacks, and Hispanics, I would like to invite you to a PD Webinar I am cohosting with the AAPI Coalition of Wisconsin. This opportunity will be added to our Frontline for PD hours, however registration at https://tinyurl.com/WCSSmembers would also be needed.

I hope to see you there on April 23rd. The addition of Hmong and Asian Americans to Act 31 has been in the works for a while, and I am thrilled it passed.

CHICAGO ALIVE
! - Hello DCE staff! I am Patrick Phalen, former principal at Mountain Bay Elementary. I have always been fortunate to have the opportunity to serve and support children. In my “retired” life I am blessed to still have a mission to help young people, and now it is providing them with opportunities in the arts! On April 26 and 27, there will be a concert at the UWSP-Wausau campus and all the proceeds will go to scholarships and creating opportunities for students in the performing arts! The concert will feature a band that I am proud to be a part of called Alive Again, A Tribute to Chicago. It is one of the top Chicago tribute bands in the United States! I GUARANTEE you will enjoy the concert even if you are not the most avid Chicago fan. In addition, the DC Everest HS jazz ensemble will be opening the show Saturday night! (Friday night will feature the Wausau West band). Tickets can be purchased at aliveagaintribute.com under shows. I hope you consider this great opportunity to support the arts and see a great concert!

Coaches/Advisors - Reminder - all fundraisers must receive approval before being conducted. This applies to all sports teams and clubs. Please use THIS FORM if you plan to conduct a fundraiser moving forward.
