Need to Know

2nd semester schedules-update to the request process to drop 2nd semester of a full year class
In an effort to encourage communication between the teacher and student, students who wish to drop S2 of a full year class will need to have their teacher (of the dropped class) sign a form. The signature does not give approval or denial of the request, it is merely a signature confirming there was a conversation between the student and teacher.  Counselors still intend to have all 2nd semester rosters set by January 15th.

Share your families holiday treat - Families often have unique food items for the holidays. On December 20th, bring your family's special holiday food to share with colleagues in the teacher lounge! Feel free to graze the food all day! (Potluck of holiday favorites).

StuCo Holiday Dress Up Days
    Monday, 12/18 - Holiday Pajamas
    Tuesday, 12/19 - Ugly sweater/Christmas accessories
    Wednesday, 12/20 - class color/theme:
            seniors-snowmen/blue
            juniors-santa/red
            sophomores-grinch/green
Thursday 12/21 - Snowstorm or Snow gear- winter whiteout (dress in snow gear or all white)

Senior High Safety Drill - The SRH and the district will conduct our safety discussion on the same day for semester 2. It will be during announcements for the SRH on 1/26. District wide communication will be sent to families around 2 pm on the 26th describing the drill.

Faculty Meeting 12/19 - Our last faculty meeting for 2023 will be Tuesday, December 19 in room 310/329 at 2:50pm.  THIS IS CHANGED FROM WEDNESDAY due to food delivery scheduled for Wednesday.

Retirement Professional Development (Asked to share by Talent and Culture) - Because of the multitude of retirement questions T&C has been receiving, we are hosting two separate Professional Development seminars open to ALL staff:

“Is Retirement in Your Near Future” – presented by Jack Stoskopf on January 22, 2024 (4:30pm); geared towards all employee groups who may be considering retirement in the next 5-10 years.

“Building a Retirement Roadmap” – presented by Riana Mefferd on March 12, 2024 (4:15pm); geared towards all employee groups aged Gen Z and Millennial looking to gain insights into retirement funding options.

Both sessions, including more detailed descriptions, are on Frontline and registration is open!

2nd Semester Student Schedules - Last year it was decided in BLT to allow students to request dropping 2nd semester of a full year class.

12/21/23    All students will be sent an email with the criteria for making a request as well as the link to a google form to submit to counselors.
1/9/24        The deadline for students to make a request.
1/10/24      Counselors will review all requests and make changes based on class availability.
1/15/24      Counselors intend to have all 2nd semester rosters set.

**Students may NOT request drops or changes to semester long classes. Please reference the Student Handbook if you have questions about the criteria.

District Reminders/Awareness

SUBJECT: Important Information about the D.C. Everest Education Foundation IMAGINE 2024

Dear D.C. Everest Staff,

We are excited to announce the D.C. Everest Education Foundation IMAGINE event will be held in person on March 6, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. IMAGINE provides the Foundation with the opportunity to raise funds to support its mission while showcasing the talents of our students.

Last year’s IMAGINE event was our largest and most successful to date. We received very positive feedback from attendees and exhibitors about the interactive nature of the event therefore we plan to use the same format and location as last year. IMAGINE 2024 will be held at the Greenheck Turner Community Center (Field House portion) and the DCE Senior High. IMAGINE will include the following:
  • Food (including Polito’s pizza) and beverages at the Greenheck Field House concession stand
  • Musical, dramatic, dance performances in the DCE Senior High auditorium
  • Student artwork gallery
  • DCE spirit wear available for purchase
  • Student clubs — interactive booths/stations/displays in the GTCC Field House and DCE Senior High gym
Each student club that exhibits at IMAGINE will receive a $200 stipend and participating athletic teams will receive a $100 stipend. Each club is asked to provide an interactive experience for attendees. What might that look like?

Student clubs that are “athletic” in nature will be assigned a space in the DCE Senior High gym they can use (for example, a fishing club may host a fly casting experience).

A performing arts club may perform in the auditorium.

All other clubs will be assigned a space in the GTCC Field House. A gardening club might provide a small cup of dirt and allow attendees to plant a seed they can take home with them. A book club may provide attendees with a bookmark for personal use.

We encourage club advisors and students to get creative, and to fund that creativity the Lewitzke Foundation will provide each club with up to $30 to purchase the necessary materials.

For planning purposes, DCE club advisors must complete the IMAGINE participation and interactive experience form by February 9, 2024. By completing the form clubs will be able to reserve space at IMAGINE, request funds (as noted above,) and indicate whether they will be in the DCE Senior High gym, GTCC Field House or DCE Senior High auditorium.

We look forward to showcasing the talents of our students and welcoming the community to IMAGINE 2024!

Pride Tickets:  All staff are asked to send three Pride tickets to students per week. Use the rotation calendar to help provide an equal rotation. Teachers are welcome to send more than directed on the calendar. This action step should increase the amount of positive feedback parents and students hear about all the good they are doing.
