November 6 - 10

 Weekly Happenings

Thank you to those involved in the You Matter activities with a special shout to to advisors Danielle Steiniger, Tony DeGrand and our student services team for their efforts in organizing and executing the week. The highlight and purpose of the week was having our student Raise Your Voice leaders train 211 students to understand the resources and supports available to students throughout the building.  These students were given a green bandana to tie on their backpacks which signifies they have completed the training, are open and willing to talk with anyone who wants them to and to provide unspoken support for students who may be silently struggling with their mental health.

Big thank you to Jodi Peterson and DECA student members who ran their annual Trick or Can Drive in which students received many food products, cleared out expired items in the food pantry and restocked the shelves for the upcoming holiday seasons!

Need to Know
School Psychologists Week! - Happy school psychologist's week to Tami Mlodik!  When you get a chance this week stop in and share your appreciation for all that Tami does!

Observations - A reminder that teachers have until November 15th to complete your two 15-20 minute observations for our upcoming faculty meeting.  All faculty members are expected to conduct those observations on the two floors where your physical classroom is not located.  For instance, if you are in the Art department you will conduct your observations on the second and third floors.  If you're in the math department, you'll be on the first and third.

This is the link to the faculty members who have agreed to open their classroom to you.

While conducting the observation please take notes and reflect on the practice you are observing.  Focus on clarity of instruction (how does the teacher articulate the desired learning outcome?), how students are receiving feedback, and ways in which the teacher creates a positive culture in their classroom.  We will use your reflections at our faculty meeting on November 15th.

Sophomore Mandatory Meeting during ELT - There will be a mandatory sophomore class meeting on Monday with Administration during ELT. Students should check in with their ELT and then should be move to the auditorium to sit with their ELT classes.  The meeting will focus on expectations for ELT release, a review of the first quarter, and talk about coming in the second quarter.

Picture Retake Day - There will be a retake day on Tuesday, November 7th from 7-10a.m. for any student or staff member to get their picture taken for the yearbook. There will be a charge of $9 for students if nothing is really wrong with the pictures. If eyes are closed or something like that, it will be free of charge. Students must bring old pictures back that day to the photographer.
