March 6 - 10

D.C. Everest Senior High School Staff Update

Weekly Happenings

40 DCE students explored the vast and varied roles within Aviation at the Aviation Career Day at Central WI Airport. We have had students follow up requesting a job shadow. One highlight of the trip was boarding the Greenheck Fan Co. luxury jet and talking with their personal pilot. The specialized equipment to clear runways and provide emergency response was impressive. The folks at Central WI Airport really invested time and thought in creating this industry experience for students.

Key Club members prepared and served a warm meal at the Jubilee House this week, serving close to 80 people in our community.

Mock Trial competing at State this past weekend! They won 1/4 of their competitions!

As Mike Mathies says - Winning is fun!

National School Social Worker Appreciation Week: March 5-11 - A huge shout out to our 5 social workers (Lisa Morgan, Sara Welsh,
Teressa Friedrich, Morgan Hintz, and our very own Erin Jacobson!) Their work tremendously impacts the success of so many of our students.  Thank you for going above and beyond and doing whatever you have to for each and every student!

IMAGINE - Wednesday night is a moment for our students to showcase their talents, interests, and abilities for our community as they highlight the clubs, activities, educational, and athletic opportunities available across the district. A huge thank you to the DCE Education Foundation for providing funding to the clubs that participate, and to Lewitzke Foundation for supplying materials that allow our groups to create a hands-on experience for those who attend. As a reminder, this event not only showcases experiences available to our students, it helps the Foundation raise funds used to support our teachers and staff in creating innovative experiences for our students in the classroom. Hope to see you at Greenheck/Senior High on Wednesday. The event runs from 5:00 - 7:00.

Announcements/Week Ahead

Junior ELT Teachers - Please make sure you tell your Junior ELT students where they will be testing on Tuesday.  If you did not receive a roster of who will be in your testing room and who will be sent to another room, please see Dawn for a copy (accommodations see Tami).  If a student is unaware of the room they will be testing in, have them check with Dawn in the front office Monday or Rm 369 on Tuesday.

ACT Extra Room Supervisor - Jo Bailey, Tom Davies, Brian Engebretson, CJ Hansen and Rachel Lintereur will find their room roster in their mailboxes on Monday morning.  Dawn will try to have pictures on the rosters as well from IC.  If they are not, you can use IC to recognize a student.

Junior ACT Refresher Meeting - Room Supervisor, proctors, and subs for both regular and accommodated ACT testing have the option to join in a meeting Monday 7 a.m. in room 369 or 2:50 p.m. in the IMC.  We will show what computer areas you need to go to, what paperwork needs to be completed, answer questions you may have, etc.

Sunshine update: A sympathy card was sent to Michele Vinje for the passing of her mother. Our condolences go out to Michelle and her family during this difficult time.
